Steps to mount ISO Image files in Linux

Ensure loop module is loaded before this to work.

  1. Login as root or switch to root by following command
    $ su -
  2. Create a mount point directory
    # mkdir -p /mnt/disk
  3. Use the mount command to mount the disk007.iso
    # mount -o loop disk007.iso /mnt/disk
  4. Change directory to list files stored inside an ISO image:
    # cd /mnt/disk
    # ls -l

To UNmount the command is

$ sudo umount /mnt/disk
